Inspirations from Rowe

By Journalist Fatima Dumail (ORU)

“If it is easy, everyone would do it.”

Guest speaker, Dustin Rowe spoke this out when asked about facing adversities throughout his life.

Rowe had nothing but words of wisdom, high regards and words of encouragement given to the O.I.L body during the first day of the 55th session.  During his speech, he talked about his experiences from when he was 16 up until now that he is 47.  From participating during the Bush and Gore 2000 presidential elections to pursuing law and years of being an attorney till now that he is in his established career. Throughout his speech, he gave great advice to the body that everyone can remember and live by as they continue their careers. He also gave the body the privilege to raise and ask him any questions, as to which he answered to the best of his abilities.

Considering, that the legislature is mostly composed of youth members, who are just starting to build their careers, making step by step progress, as words of encouragement he mentioned a bible verse from 1 Timothy 4:12, ” Don’t let anyone think little of you, because you are young”, which garnered a lot of head nods and approval from the body.

In fact, on an interview done with Joys a delegate from the House, she said “he got me thinking about my purpose”, and she also expressed her eagerness to have a conversation, as he eludes a lot of intelligence.

Furthermore, as he was closing out the time he provided for questioning, he was asked about how he handled the challenges that came his way. This question got him thinking thoroughly, to which he responded, “If it is easy, everyone will do it.” He expressed how a difficult situation should not hinder pursuing it and that, in the end, everything will be worth it through hard work and perseverance.
