Governor Tallie Tynes has been incredibly involved in the Oklahoma Intercollegiate Legislature throughout her college career. In her time at Oklahoma State University, she served OSU’s delegation as a Legislative Consultant. She also served in the 2024-2025 Governor’s Cabinet as the Director of Delegation Resources. She began her journey as a delegate in the House of Representatives where she served for 2 semesters. In her time in the House, she served as a Freshman Liaison. In her 3rd session, she found her true home in the Senate where she learned of her love for detail-oriented tasks. She served as the Head Freshman Liaison, Assistant Floor Leader, Legislative Committee Chair, and Linguistics Formatting and Dilatory Matters Committee Chair in her time in the Senate. This experience motivated her to eventually apply to be the Secretary of State. After a one year term as Secretary of State, she ran for the office of Governor. In her term, she hopes to make sessions as easy to attend as possible and hopes to give back to this organization that has given her so much. Tallie is a second year master’s student at Oklahoma State University in the Politics and Public Policy program.
The Governor is the “Chief Magistrate” of the Oklahoma Intercollegiate Legislature, and is therefore the responsible officer for all actions of the Organization, especially the Executive Branch.
The Governor’s primary responsibilities are overseeing the actions of all officers of the Executive Branch, planning each regular and special session, and planning all meetings of the Delegation Council, Steering Committee, and the Board of Directors.
Similar to the actual Governor, our Governor also signs or vetoes all legislation, may issue executive orders, and gives the annual “State of the State” address at the beginning of each regular session.
