The future is bright with zero-stars

The second session of the 51st Oklahoma Intercollegiate Legislature welcomed over 80 new “zero-stars” to the House of Representatives and Senate.

Oklahoma State University brings a number of delegates to each session. Delegation Chair of OSU and House Floor Leader, Noah Murphy, said that this is the largest number of zero-stars in his delegation since he’s joined O.I.L.

“It’s really awesome to see all these new people in the organization,” Murphy said. “O.I.L has a really bright future with all of the amazing zero-stars. Not only from my delegation, but from the other delegations as well.”

Even Governor Shirey can agree that this class of zero-stars is making an impact on the future of O.I.L.

“This zero-star class is absolutely amazing,” Governor Shirey said. “I have sat in the chambers to watch their debates and they are so passionate and so dedicated. I know if they stick with this program they will amount to huge success in the future.

This class of zero-stars has not been afraid to debate bills or speak their minds

Representative Abigail Nowaski from ORU has been asking numerous questions with every bill that hits the house floor. When asked why she decided to join her O.I.L, she said that she was looking for something similar to a mock trial in her high school.

“I like public speaking and debating, and I was told O.I.L was similar to that,” Nowaski said. “I didn’t know what to expect, but my delegation did a showcase on what OIL was and after that, I was absolutely hooked.”

With myself being a zero star journalist, I can say that through the House of Representatives, zero stars are making an impact. These representatives who are new to the house and have never experienced this before have shown through debating, questions and hostile amendments that they are advocating for.

House Floor Leader Murphy said that this class of zero-stars has impressed all of the older members with how they’ve been quick to learn the rules.

“This has been one of the best zero-star classes that I’ve seen in a while,” said House Floor Leader Murphy.

The future looks bright with this class of zero-stars.
