Rep. Rehman (TU)

Journalist: Lina Quinones (TCC)

This session, one of the people that the Press wanted to highlight is Rep. Reham from TU.

Rehman is a student at TU, and they have been at OIL for two years and is a four star.

The current competitions that they are competing in are of course the house as well as the Moot Court. Right at the start of their time at OIL, they began as a House member. But since last spring they have started competing in Moot Court.

Rehman talks about how they love both of these competitions that they are in.

With Moot Court, they talk about how it is incredibly fun and that Moot Court has incredibly interesting cases for them to participate in. One of their favorite pastimes is comparing these cases with other members of Moot Court.

They also state that “the house is also also fun, you know a little interesting this year, but fun”

They continue on talking about some of their favorite pastimes here at OIL each time they come to a session. Which is usually preparing the case in the hotel lobby with other competitors trying to figure out the current case that they are working on.

Of course, being a house representative they have seen their number of different bills. One of these bills that so far has impressed Rehman this year is a Senate bill.

They state “That condense like the single, all of the zoning and housing into one. I think that that is a very good thing”

Then Rehman also brought their own bill, which is house bill TU-511 which is called the “Tenure Protection” act of 2026.

This bill is about overturning one of Kevin Stitt’s executive orders. Which was a limiting tenure from different public universities. This bill will ensure that tenure is protected, and that the legislature would not ever do that again.

So far this bill has not been heard yet, but hopefully it will be heard by Sunday.

Rehman so far has been having a great session. They state that it has been nice seeing all the zero starts working hard in the house. But sadly they did lose in their round.
