With the close of joint-session, both OIL chambers prepare to begin their first dig into OIL legislation with committee meetings.
The Senate Floor Leader, Connor Boren, and the floor leader’s team did a fantastic job of ensuring that legislation was distributed to the Senate committees in a timely and efficient manner. The Senate also thanks their Deputy Pres Pro, Alaura Gilmore, for her contribution in organizing and streamlining the committee agenda and meeting process. Each committee was only assigned bills that were written by the people in that committee. This has not been done in past sessions, but greatly helped in getting more bills through committees in an efficient manner.
Committee chairs and floor leadership in the House did a great job in keeping committees organized and on track. While ensuring the integrity of bills to be heard on the House floor, committees were structured in an efficient and timely manner. Floor leaders, Adam Clifton and Stephanie Landaverde, distributed committee bills and agendas and, with more than few suspensions of the rules, committees were adjourned before 8pm.
As the first day of session comes to an end, zero stars wonder what they have gotten themselves into and those with many stars are reminded why they love OIL so much. With this first taste of legislation, let the conversations, debates, and everything in between begin. Gavel in at 9am.
