The Press Conference to hear from candidates for lieutenant governor and governor respectively met last night at 10 p.m. Running for lieutenant governor are candidates President Pro Tempore Marron and Senator Laginess, with Representative Edmundson and Speaker Schonfield running for the office of Governor. Largely, the two candidates from each race agreed on general points, but sometimes stressed varying avenues on achieving those points.

Candidate Marron (Left) and Candidate Laginess (Right) during the conference
In the race for lieutenant governor, both candidates were asked what activities they would implement if elected. Candidate Marron suggested Brickopolis (an entertainment venue which includes food), and Candidate Laginess suggested bowling for the fall and a “yard party” for the spring. More organizationally, they were asked how they would handle resistance. Candidate Marron stated that working with others and making some concessions has helped in the past. Laginess echoes the sentiment that they would work with others, but stated legality and ethics more specifically. Finally, both candidates were asked what album they believe encapsulates O.I.L., with Candidate Marron answering “Currents” by Tame Impala and Candidate Laginess answering “Red” by Taylor Swift.
In the governor’s race, the candidates were first asked what they were most excited about enacting if elected. Candidate Edmundson argued primarily for fundraising whilst Candidate Schonfield argued primarily for Efficiency. Both candidates were also asked about their plan to overcome potential obstacles.

Candidate Schonfield stated that a “positive attitude” and “clear mind” were the best way to appropriately react to obstacles
Candidate Edmundson stated that to overcome obstacles, working “As a group” because “We [have] certain people with certain abilities” would be best in reacting to obstacles.
Both candidates agreed on their plan for veto power (only in impractical and unconstitutional situations, with joke bills also being vetoed), as well as agreeing on their plan regarding raising dues (avoiding it by fundraising first).
The vote for these races will be held tomorrow, Apr. 3, 2025.
