Fergalicious Fashion in the Senate

By Journalist Amaya Brooks (OBU)

Traditions in the Senate abound, and one of these took place this Thursday morning in the Senate. With nominations for the Fashion committee in line, in light of the fact that today’s fashion theme for OIL is “Fashion Faux Pas and Crazy Ties”, Pres Pro Shaw brings the procession of committee nominations to a vote. The Senate votes to continue with the nominations and establishment of this beloved tradition.

With twelve nominees, nearly a dozen song nominations, and only three positions on the fashion committee, the excitement runs high in the Senate. Fashionable nominations were made for Senators Waheed (OU), Ruiz (OBU), Fleshute (OSU), Bell (OU), Gardner (OBU), Gilmore (ALU), Cook (NWOSU), Mason (NWOSU), Collier (OBU), Baca (SE), and Hudson (NSU). Zero stars and six stars alike accept nominations from their fellow senators and eagerly await their turn on the runway.

Song nominations proceed with much anticipation. Which catchy tune will win time in the Senate chambers? A tie is struck between Senator Collier’s (OBU) nomination of Flashing Lights by Kanye West, Senator Mason’s (NWOSU) nomination of Fergalicious by Fergy, Senator Ervin’s (NWOSU) nomination of Way 2 Sexy by Drake featuring Future and Young Thug, and Senator Sanders’ (OBU) nomination of Back in Black by AC/DC.

Fergalicious comes out victorious and the fashion committee nominees prepare for their time in the spotlight (pictured above). The show begins.

With jackets coming off, power walks, and many poses struck, three nominees come out victorious. Senator Fleshute presides as committee chair of the Fashion committee, Senator Bell as vice chair, and Senator Pelfrey as committee member.

Senator Bell (OU) states, “I love being on the fashion committee, I think I’ve been on it almost every session I’ve been to… Senator Fleschute (OSU) and I really worked the runway.”

Fashion committee is a time honored and treasured tradition in the Senate, and for another year the culture of the Senate continues.
