Dear Zero Stars,
Oklahoma Intercollegiate Legislature is here and almost as overwhelming as regular classes! Between orientation, the House, the Senate, MOOT court, and navigating around the Capitol, things can be stressful. In order to help aid the frustration and feeling of defeat, pick your chins up and listen to what a few older members have to day to you, the people!
Aleah Laforce (3 Star) – Oral Roberts University
“I would say to get out of your comfort zone and don’t be afraid to ask for help. Be brave and just remember that we are here to help!”
Kaleah Brown (4 Star) – Oral Roberts University
“Don’t be afraid to share your opinion even if it goes against the majority!!”
Jessie Hickey (9 Star) – Oklahoma State University
“Participate as much as possible!! If not, you will regret it!”
Marcus Heald (6 Star) – Speaker of the House
“If you feel like you don’t know enough, neither does any one else. Read more and prepare more.”
Shayla Powers (3 Star) – The University of Oklahoma
“Everybody messes up constantly so don’t sweat the little mistakes!”
Andrew Hocutt (8 Star) – Attorney General
“Be as active and involved as you can be and learn as much as you can possibly retain.”
Amy Vanderveer (5 Star) – Chief Justice of Supreme Court
“May advice would be to put yourself out there and speak up! You learn a lot from being willing to make mistakes.”
Heather Miskett (8 Star) – OIL Alumni
“Be as involved as possible in chambers. It is scary to be on the mic for the first time or to debate for the first time and see everyone staring back at you but it is such a great experience and getting out of your comfort zone is the best way to learn. It is the best thing to learn and get to know others from other schools!”
