Ashton Tate is the 3 star Interim DC from Oklahoma State University double majoring in Strategic-Communications and Political Science. Outside of OIL, Tate is a member of the Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity, a Student Government Senator, as well as achieved Top 10 Freshman of his University.
When asked why he chose OIL, Tate responded with, “I have always been interested in politics, my dad kinda got me into it, so I thought it was something new, something unique to be able to write legislation, have a different perspective on stuff that I didn’t agree with and be able to change it.”
When asked what keeps him coming back to OIL, he said, “The bonding and the friendships you make. The more times I’ve done this, the less legislation means, but learning how to debate, how to critically think, and seeing perspectives and getting to know people on a personal level.”
His goal with OSU this session is to, “hopefully keep it on the road and hopefully win. I want my delegates to leave here prepared, better public speakers, better thinkers, know what they believe and know what they can back and when to do the right thing, it’s always time to do the right thing.”
As an overall OIL goal, Tate says, “I want everybody to be able to think and get along. Its network. Get to know people. You can get a job here like one of my delegates.”
When Tate was asked what he gained from OIL, he said, “I think being in a leadership position definitely has. I called my dad the other day and told him about everything about getting OSU here, and told him the leadership stuff i’ve learned from trying to get a delegation there and some of the adversity i’ve had has probably meant more than the stuff I pay to learn”
After graduating from Oklahoma State, Tate has a dream of doing one (1) of the three (3) things: Attending law school, being a rodeo clown, or opening a brewery. The future seems bright for the delegate Ashton Tate!
