Friday, April 1, the Oklahoma Intercollegiate Legislature Foundation is putting on the Governor’s Gala at the Will Rogers Theater in Oklahoma City. OIL student delegates, alumni and donors are invited to this event honoring Congressman Tom Cole, who will be speaking at the Gala.
This dinner and dancing event will be in the middle of a week of intense legislative work for the student delegates at the capitol building. Three-star senator Franklin Kaleka looks forward to the Gala as one of the most fun events on the delegates’ entertainment schedule.
“Last year, we had a lot of fun getting to hang out with each other outside of the chambers and build relationships with students from other delegations, as well as alumni,” Kaleka said.
The Gala is sure to be another hit this year for the hard-working students who put their full energy into the legislative sessions each day. With so many universities represented at OIL, many delegates spend much of their free time networking and building friendships with students across the state.
Freshman Representative Lincoln Brown is looking forward to his first Gala as a chance to get to know the other delegates. Brown said, “Being here for the first time, it can all be overwhelming. But the Gala will be a chance to relax and meet people in a less stressful environment.”
