Cole Norris is a zero star member of the press from Southeastern Oklahoma State University located in Durant, Oklahoma. This is Cole’s first semester with Oklahoma Intercollegiate Legislature, but he has known of the organization since the fall of 2025. He is one of the full time members of the press.
Cole finds press to be a stressful but rewarding experience. He enjoys being able to meet new people and learn about them. One of the best parts of press for Cole is getting to walk around the capitol and interact with others and learn about them and their work.
Politics interest Cole, but not necessarily the more procedural parts. He admires the members of the House and Senate who are able to write bills and have them heard. He said that writing bills seems like a messy and difficult process when taking all aspects needed into account.
Currently, Cole is double majoring in Media Studies and History at Southeastern. He has always loved stories but is particularly drawn to movies and television shows as forms of art. Cole enjoys the idea of working on creating a film or TV show in large part due to the collaborative nature of them. He says they are such spontaneous things and he would love to work on one in the future.
Cole stated his career goal is to work on a film or TV production that is a great work of art. He “wants to see his name in the credits of a good film that I can be proud of”. Some of Cole’s favorite movies include: The Shining, Wall-E, and Iron Lung.
Cole says he has enjoyed his experience so far in OIL and may return in the future. He says if he does return he would likely continue working with the press.
