Representative Harris (ORU)

This semester, O.I.L. seems to have many new delegates entering this fall at the Capitol. With many zero stars, there is amazing new talent that O.I.L. is now seeing.

One of these new delegates, is now being welcomed into the house this fall semester. Her name is Nadia Harris, or now known as an O.I.L. House Chambers, Representative Harris (ORU). This is Harris’s first year at O.I.L.. She had many things to say about how exciting it was building up O.I.L..

Now that Rep. Harris (ORU) is here at that capital, she has commented on how she was feeling about O.I.L. “I’ve really enjoyed it, it can be a little exhausting at times, but it’s fun to really interact, to debate. You get to hear different perspective on bills”

Furthermore, Representative Harris (ORU) commented on how she has been building connections throughout her couple of days of O.I.L. so far.  “There’s been so many new people I’ve met, and it’s been so great to interact with each one of them”

This session, Representative Harris (ORU) brought a couple of bills to sessions; one of those bills was House Bill ORU-508. Otherwise known as the “emergency protection” act of 2025. In this bill, it will create a new law that allows public buildings to allow those who are in the house to stay during times of emergency such as weather conditions.

She spoke about how she got much support from many different Representatives within the House.  But sadly, it did not pass because of what she said, “some technical details”.

But Rep. Harris was not disheartened; she was more empowered to begin working on it right away to bring back to the next session in the spring.

One of the last questions that was asked during the interview was what event you were most excited about. For Representative Harris (ORU) she was most excited for the gala. Even though Rep. Harris (ORU) stated she “may not be as energetic”. She was excited to talk to more people in a relaxed setting, as well as seeing everyone dressed up.
