Amidst the grandeur of the Oklahoma State Capitol, Rose State College proudly stands as the sole community college delegation participating in this session of the Oklahoma Intercollegiate Legislature (OIL).

Despite being a smaller delegation, this distinction has not discouraged its members but has instead served as motivation to excel and represent their institution with pride. The Rose State delegation comprises six active members: three in the Senate, two in the House and one in the Press Corps.

Together, they exemplify a commitment to civic engagement, legislative excellence and collaborative teamwork. Since joining OIL in the fall of 2023, Rose State College has established a reputation for determination and innovation within this esteemed organization.

Delegation Chair Dynasty Poire has expressed immense pride in her team, praising their courage, perseverance, and ability to excel amidst a predominantly university-dominated environment.

“Rose State’s members have shown an extraordinary level of excellence and bravery this week at the Capitol,” Poire said. “Their dedication reflects not just the strength of our delegation but also the heart of our college.”

As a community college delegation, Rose State faces unique challenges. Many of its members will graduate in the spring, raising concerns about the club’s continuity. However, this potential obstacle fuels their determination to set a standard of excellence that will inspire future students to join and carry on the legacy.

The achievements of Rose State College’s OIL delegation highlight the power of passion and purpose. Their presence at the Capitol is a testament to the value of community colleges in shaping leaders, fostering civic responsibility and proving that excellence knows no boundaries. Whether in the Senate chambers, the House or the Press Corps, Rose State’s delegation continues to shine, demonstrating that greatness is not limited by size but defined by spirit.
