Dance battles in the Senate?

The proponency starting the battle off strong.
The opponency showing off their dance moves.

With just one day left in the session, the exhaustion from presenting bills, arguing for moot points and editing graphics and photos is beginning to take its toll.

Long days have turned into late nights, but on the fourth day of session, a bill to rid the world of all geese, a heated debate turned dance-off and a few moments of carefree fun were exactly what the Senate needed to break the monotony.

Sen. Belyeu (ORU) presented the ‘Genocide of Geesekind Act of War’ as the ‘Game On’ bill that led to which sparked a debate unlike any other. The session quickly devolved into speaking exclusively in thick Southern accents, performing jumping jacks before each comment, and, to top it off, a rather questionable dance-off to conclude the discussion.

The bill calls for a declaration of war against these birds, aiming to rid the world of them entirely, as they have “become a pervasive and unwelcome menace on our esteemed college campuses, public parks and waterways,” Belyeu said.

The infamous dance-off began when a motion was made to abandon the usual verbal debate in favor of a more physical form of expression: showcasing their best dance moves.

As you can see below these senators and other members of the Senate had a great time proving their point. Again, all the individuals that have participated in this semester of Oklahoma Intercollegiate Legislature (OIL) has worked extremely hard to put forth their very best effort during this competition and it definitely takes a lot out of everyone, so getting this time to relax and have fun was a refreshing break that I think everyone needed.

Who do you think won?
