Tiebreaker: Lieutenant Governor Settles Senate Split

By Journalist Maya Baca (SE).

Representatives Donaldson and Gonser, both from NWOSU, brought the “Better Family Foundation Leave” Act to the Senate today, which dealt with the problem of paid parental leave for workers in the state of Oklahoma.

After many questions and much caucusing, the bill went to a vote of final passage. Ultimately, a single vote made the difference, that of OIL Lieutenant Governor Quintero, who was called upon to break the tie.

Having already passed in the House of Representatives, this bill will now be placed on the desk of OIL Governor Emmett Thompson for his rejection or approval.
