Joe Dorman’s Welcoming

Journalist Alondra Perez (OU), November 14, 2022

Joint session welcomed special guest Joe Dorman to the floor today to have him share with the body his experiences. He gives a personal sentiment as he reminisces on his old O.I.L. friends he was still connected with after he left the organization. Dorman

informs the body, “the connections that you will make will go past this organization” and gets emotional as he asks for a tissue. Dorman continues his speech as he pushes newcomers to present their bills on the floor, “It is empowering being on the floor” and offers advice on how to handle poorly written bills that may hit the floor, “respectfully tear it to shreds.” He ends his speech with a cow joke, “what’s the last name of a Jewish cow?” everyone in joint session leans to signal they are ready for the punchline, “Holstein!” the crowd bursts out in laughter.
